Grading Scale
A- to A + 90- 100%
-completely masters a concept without the prompting of a teacher and has outstanding work in that subject
B- to B+ 80-89%
-mastered a concept with some prompting of the teacher and has above average work in that subject
C- to C+ 70-79%
-basically understands a concept, but needs more prompting than not in that subject
D- to D+ 60-69%
-struggling with mastering concepts in a particular subject and needs a great deal of prompting from the teacher
F 59% and below
-has not shown any glimpse of mastery nor does the student respond to any prompting by the teacher
Lowest percentage entered into the gradebook 50% unless the assignment was not turned in.
Effort Grade Explanation
Outstanding (O- to O+)
Fully prepared, committed and working to best of their ability in every lesson. Often volunteers constructive contributions in class. Takes lesson content further and shows initiative. Completes all homework on time, frequently producing work of exceptional and exemplary quality to maximum ability. Remains fully focused, attentive, and cooperative. Helps others to learn and takes an active and appropriate role in all class activities.
Satisfactory (S- to S+)
Students at this level may demonstrate various levels of effort and may not be consistent. The behaviors listed range from often to occasionally.
Student often tries hard in the lesson and contributes to class/group discussions. Follows instructions willingly and thoroughly. Often ready to learn, including having the correct books and equipment. Usually completes homework on time to a good standard and appropriate to their ability. May occasionally demonstrate evidence of work being rushed, lacking development, and/or not reaching the standard of which the student is capable. Usually engages in the lesson, but needs reminding to keep on task and does not consistently give maximum effort. Sometimes behavior can occasionally be disruptive, making it harder for students to learn and teachers to teach.
Not Satisfactory(N- to N+)
Makes little apparent effort and needs frequent reminders to stay on task. Often not willing or ready to learn, frequently forgetting books and equipment. Homework is rarely completed on time or to the standard of which the student is capable. Regularly displays disruptive behavior which prevents other students from learning and the teacher from teaching. Disrespectful towards other students and the teacher.
No Credit for Late Work Policy
Makes little apparent effort and needs frequent reminders to stay on task. Often not willing or ready to learn, frequently forgetting books and equipment. Homework is rarely completed on time or to the standard of which the student is capable. Regularly displays disruptive behavior which prevents other students from learning and the teacher from teaching. Disrespectful towards other students and the teacher.
