Trustee Area Redistricting

Trustee Area Redistricting Assessment

Based on 2020 Census data, school districts with trustee area systems are required to review and, if necessary, adjust their trustee area map by March 1, 2022, to ensure population balance. This applies to CNUSD, which transitioned to a by-trustee area election system in 2014 to ensure compliance with the California Voting Rights Act or "CVRA". Please note that this is a required action when Census data is released every decade. This action does not impact school boundaries.

Timeline:

January 18, 2021

  • CNUSD’s Board of Education will receive information on the impact of the 2020 Census Data on Trustee Area Map Population Balance.
  • Demographer creates map options with “adjusted” Trustee Area boundary lines to balance population across each area to within the permissible 10% variance.
  • CNUSD will hold a public hearing regarding the adjusted map options.

FEBRUARY 1, 2022

  •  Demographer will present adjusted maps to the Board.

FEBRUARY 2, 2022
