Social Media Policy

Social Media Policy:

The District maintains official social media platforms to further the District’s vision and mission, to support student learning and staff professional developm
ent, and to enhance positive communication with students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members. Official District social media platforms shall be used only for these intended purposes and in a manner consistent with this policy. By creating these official sites and allowing for public comment, the Board does not intend to create a public or limited public forum, or otherwise guarantee an individual’s right to free speech. The Board expects all users to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner.

Social Media Commenting Policy: We welcome your comments, both positive and constructive, via social media. While we may share your comments with the appropriate staff to address concerns and attempt to respond in a timely manner, a comment on social media is not treated as a formal complaint. To ensure a concern is formally addressed, please contact the District office.

We do not allow, and will remove, comments that target or attack specific students, staff members or members of the community, use vulgar or offensive language, share private or confidential information, advocate illegal acts, or violate Board Policy, Education Code, or other laws. Comments that are off-topic or unrelated to the post, or otherwise inconsistent with the purpose of the social media platform, may be removed.

Users should be aware that all comments on social media are public, and information posted may be considered a public record subject to disclosure under the California Public Records Act. Comments can be accessed and may be used by others, including news media, law enforcement, and other government agencies.
